Honda Pushing For Dealer Improvements
Honda recently reported sales increases, which is notable as other automakers struggle to encourage customers to visit their dealers. Despite the successes, Honda is looking to pressure to dealers into making improvements or risk being shut down.
The dealers that Honda is concerned about are those that are relatively small, or that Honda feels are too undersized considering their market.
Honda specifically is requesting that some dealers expand their facilities. Many dealers are not required to make necessary changes, notes Honda Charlotte NC, but many dealer will be at the mercy of Honda corporate to ensure improvements are made. Requested improvements include added service bays and increased showroom space. Proposed improvements by these select dealers are required by the end of May with groundbreaking for proposed improvements to begin by 2010.
Honda is hoping that dealerships will comply with the requests to help improve operations. Dealers that fail to make the improvements run the risk of losing their Honda franchises. But many dealers such as Honda Woodbridge VA are concerned that potential multi-million dollar investments would not lead to significant gains based on their specific markets.
Despite requests, state laws may prevent Honda from
enforcing some of these new requirements on dealers.
